Another servant of the crowd After a night of selling out Slipped on a patch of frozen spit and fell down Limped broken lines back to his door His bed is made of iron ore What used to pass itself for sleep, now clearly war Caesura, Caesura coming Bring out the person who I thought I be Utterly crush him I know I won’t even feel it Brush off my suit, tighten my tie I’ll be taking care of you tonight If I can just remember how to walk upright Caesura, Caesura coming Cold water on an empty stomach Who’s this stranger dressed in my clothes Brace myself to say, “Hello”

The coast without a breeze reminds me of you, Melted glue, a column split in two, and bleeding statues It makes me sick So sick I feel it creeping in Just wait the drugs are kicking in I can't sleep, I don't eat, don't need I have some words that I'd like to read: Computer, will you operate? Turn up the heat til I evaporate Just become another digital sound when you shut me down To reintegrate The tattoos we never got, the up we never caught Regrets and dread Goodbyes to friends hurt the most when left unsaid It makes me sick So sick my vision starts to blur Can't discern, no energy to exert A double take, I can't shake, see straight How long have I been awake? Computer, will you operate? Turn up the heat til I evaporate Just become another digital sound when you shut me down To reintegrate into the atmosphere alone Just disappear I never wrote, I never called I guess I wasn't there at all Computer, will you operate? Turn up the heat til I evaporate When will you shut me down like you shut him down? We'll reintegrate

Everglader 04:28
Everglader When was the last time We stayed up all night getting high Growing up you were the first to see Melancholy I see you grieving, grieving In my mind, It’s October Shadows are growing bolder For you and me, It’s Halloween forever Everglader, romantic dreamer, Proud non-believer, I wish you had it easier In summertime you could pretend To savor sunlight on your skin Hunter’s moon stalking me A black wind blows, The howling oaks reach out for me Dark voices on the speak Bright tears on the receiver So this grieving, my friend In my mind, It’s October Shadows are growing bolder Half moon, cold and sober For you and me, It’s Halloween forever

Spanish Moss 03:46
Keep your head down Block out the true sound Leave your music in Far better to blend Working like you’re still in debt Burning like your cigarette Jerking like a marionette Played through to cliche They’re not done with you yet Do you feel strings? What are they made of and what does it mean? Flooded with ad trash Remember you need that You’re learning to feel no fear When it isn’t clear whose getting your cash But then on the news You’re not sure what you’ve seen Was there a pair of hands moving behind the screen? So easy to drift through They know all about you There’s no need to know What’s behind the scenes

Civilized 03:52
What's that look you're giving me? What did I say? What didn't I mean? The clouds are forming in your eyes Oh, let's just split the tab and say goodbye You always love a big scene No, I will not be civilized This is just like the last time Would you say we're happy otherwise? No, you shouldn't lie You don't feel like you used to To tell the truth I never loved you What a fucked up thing to say I'm going you should go the other way You always love a big scene No, I will not be civilized This is just like the last time Would you say we're happy otherwise? No, you shouldn't lie Can I have just a minute? I think I need to settle down Can I have just a minute? Suffocating, suffocating Oh why should I be civilized? It's the same thing every time I think that we should...never mind Don't tell me to be civilized I will not be civilized Don't tell me to be civilized Cause I cannot be

Dimming world is gonna burn out soon One part per million past the threshold of pain Event Horizon at the dark of the moon I’m in the corner on the acid rain Jester king with a malicious mic All smoke and mirrors while he takes his cut I’ll drink the poison if the price is right Make me an offer I can’t pass up Flora, Fauna, hear your mantra: Oblivion, oblivion, Rapture me into the sun Your servant’s work is never done Amen Mr. Believer’s got his eyes shut tight He paid the premium for inner peace Down at the temple on his knees last night Put all his money at the Guru’s feet Every spider has a mating dance A stranger knocking with an honest grin He’ll wrap you up if he has half a chance Pincers open when you let him in Sons and daughters, take your mantra: Dimming world is gonna burn out soon Stranger knocking with an honest grin Event Horizon at the dark of the moon

about

We wrote “Greetings from the Sunshine State” in our tiny, shared practice space right beneath the BQE in our final months living in Brooklyn. The entire EP was tracked in about two weeks by our friend Sam Wadsworth in his amazing, discreet basement studio. Even while living in, and leaving, New York City, our thoughts were often of Florida, where Safety was born. For better or worse, no measure of distance has yet been great enough to let us escape the inevitable pull of the Sunshine State.
